TFYHI San Antonio Prepares for Brave Conversations Trainings and Other Interventions

TFYHI San Antonio

In San Antonio, the stakeholder group has been discussing social determinants of health and the role of sex and relationships in the community. The team can’t wait to apply this lens to designing interventions and finding innovative ways to support the trusted adults in young people’s lives.

San Antonio partners are also gearing up to test the Brave Conversations training for caregivers. If you or someone you know works with the San Antonio foster community, email Eleni at epacheco@hf-tx.org to join the Brave Conversations virtual workshop from 10-11:30 a.m. on August 3rd and 5th.

In other exciting news, TFYHI San Antonio Coordinator Eleni got to meet with CLIMB members from Seton Home this month to implement an adapted version of the Big Decisions curriculum. Facilitating Big Decisions at Seton Home provided some truly amazing insights into the specific needs of youth in care. In processing topics like healthy relationships, power dynamics, consent, anatomy, and birth control, Eleni noticed some gaps in sexual health education. The team hopes to use this insight to bolster future curriculum design tailored to youth in foster care in the fall.
